NEWARK, Calif., Nov 01, 2011 (BUSINESS WIRE) –
Viola Blythe Community Service Center of Newark launched their new
fundraising campaign at the City of Newark Mayor and Council Candidates
Luncheon. In partnership with PetersenDean Roofing and Solar Systems,
Viola Blythe will receive from $250-$1000 for every roof or solar system
purchased by Newark citizens depending on the purchase size. “Giving for
Living is a practical way to drive funds to great community
organizations like Viola Blythe,” says Jim Petersen, CEO and founder of
PetersenDean Roofing and Solar Systems, “We all can’t spend the time or
money like the volunteers at Viola Blythe so by participating in our
fundraising program, homeowners can help others as a by-product of their
purchase.”
The PetersenDean fundraising program was created to help non-profit
organizations generate funds through their sales and channels, therefore
expanding the non-profit’s ability to reach the public. Non-profits can
cultivate their own contacts when promoting their fundraising campaign
and PetersenDean provides additional support by conducting free solar
seminars, informing local citizens to the non-profit and creating
collateral for the non-profit to distribute in advertising.
Interested homeowners can help raise funds for Viola Blythe Community
Service Center of Newark by contacting them at (510) 794-3437 or
PetersenDean at (800)564-0362 to inquire about a new roof or solar
system. Homeowners need to be sure to mention the Viola Blythe program
so funds can be donated to the Center on the homeowner’s behalf upon
completion of the roof or solar system.

About Viola Blythe Community Service Center of Newark: Viola
Freeman was born in McComb, Oklahoma on Sept. 28, 1916, the ninth of ten
children and orphaned at the age of four. She married Stanley Blythe in
1946 and moved to Newark the same year. They lived in a small house
across from what is now the Viola Blythe Center. The Newark woman helped
those in need for more than 50 years — first out of the garage of her
Newark home, and later, the City of Newark offered Viola a building at
Ash Street Park from which to operate. At that point, the Viola Blythe
Community Service Center of Newark was born. With the help from the
City, churches, schools, businesses, individuals and volunteers, the
non-profit Center today provides emergency services to approximately
10,600 people each year. This includes Thanksgiving and Christmas
programs and a Children’s Christmas party for approximately 350
children. The kids each receive a new toy, a visit with Santa,
entertainment and refreshments. Viola’s daughter, Debbie Caravalho, who
is lovingly carrying on the tradition started by her mother, currently
runs the center. Learn more at violablythe@sbcglobal.net
